skype teaching
Skype teaching at Computer Box began in 2007. We piloted new courses for a year and then began to promote this way of learning through our existing student base and to prospective students.
Our first courses by Skype were offered to students who had made moves to Australia. Courses were also offered to students in Benbecula in the Western Isles of Scotland, to students in West Wales and also to a business based in Cornwall. The success of these schemes lead us to develop Skype-teaching as a mainstay feature in the work of Computer Box.
In 2010 we will begin to pilot a scheme with community based organisations in the Western Isles of Scotland to enable them to benefit directly from our study programmes by learning live how to develop new organisational profiles online.
All our Web 2.0 teaching templates for business study programmes are available as Skype-teaching sessions. Already, over 20% of our current student in-take (Spring 2009) have chosen this route to learn about how to develop their own professional-level sites. We expect this area of our work to expand significantly over the next two years.
